TRUK-MATE CONVERSIONS

Truk-Mate Vans Inc. (Address 820 Norway Drive E, Annandale, Minnesota) did mostly van conversions but they also did Suburbans conversions and even truck and minivan conversions. There is very little information about Truk-Mate Conversions on the Internet as the company no longer exists but what I did find indicates that Truck Mate announced the availability of the 20th anniversary edition of the Sterling Coach and Gran Prix van conversion models from TrukMate Vans Inc back in Jan 1993. This put the date back to 1973 as the beginning of their conversions. Other references I found show brochures for Gran Prix Van Conversions as late as 1999. This apparenty was the old location for Truk-Mate, probably where they produced the parts and pieces that got shipped to the local shops that installed the conversion package:

Truk-Mate no longer does van conversions and either sold or changed their name to Truck-Mate Toppers which deals mostly with Truck Canopies now and a few other truck accessories. Their web site is http://www.trukmatetoppers.com/ and they are located at 540 Elm Street, Annandale, Minnisota.

Description: This is a Truck-Mate conversion, 5.7 litre motor. I have gone through this vehicle, repairing anything I found bad. This is all new: Alt., Batt., Serpentine belt, EGR Valve, brakes, Plugs, Wires,Cap, rotor, T-stat, Exhaust O2 sensor, PCV valve, Passenger side exhaust manifold, Accel aluminum distributor, Exhaust, 300 miles on New Tranny Rebuilt, Removed top end - cooked, cleaned & tested heads- 135-140 psi. cooked and cleaned Intake, Psi tested cylinders 125-130. Truck has rear heat & A/C, Electric trailer brakes, Low miles on tires. Carb. needs to be rebuilt, or, a new one put on. [TBI carb.] Runs good but seems like the TBI makes it idle a little rough. I have over $3500.00 invested into this truck (most in parts).
