1978 Chevrolet Suburban Scottsdale

Description: 1978 Chevy Suburban, 1 Owner, 115,000 original miles. Original Idaho vehicle, ordered with the Scottsdale package, Power steering, Power disc brakes and A/C. The air conditioning is all there but doesn't kick on. The 350 engine is original and runs fantastic, starts every time and doesn't burn or leak any oil. The transmission shifts perfectly, doesn't crunch, grind or whine in any gear or at any speed. It's a four speed with granny first gear. The clutch was replaced 60,000 miles ago and still has plenty of life left. Brakes are superb, all lights and gauges work. The exterior was repainted the original color sometime ago but still shows very nicely, the only blemishes are on the right side and are from the original owner opening his other cars door and chipping the side of the suburban. The interior is 100% original. The seats are immaculate aside from a few splits in the seams of the drivers side bench, there are a few cracks in the center of the dash (which are pictured). All door panels are in very nice shape, all windows roll up and down as they should and doors shut properly. The only rust can be found on the drivers side rear wheel well and is about three inches long and an inch and a half wide and is in the form of some bubbling under the paint. Otherwise there is absolutely no rust whatsoever anywhere on the body or in the floors. The tires are good and steering is nice and tight. The headliner material is missing but the foam is there. The original owner has kept meticulous maintenance records since new, verifying mileage and services preformed. The only reason this jewel is being sold is because the owner is 90 years old and cannot drive anymore. This Suburban has been in a garage it's whole life when not driven. The suburban is a factory half ton and has a factory 40 gallon fuel tank. I would have no doubt that this Suburban would make it across country with absolutely no issues at all! April 23, 2016. Mileage 115,000

Description: 1978 Chevy Suburban. Scottsdale 10. $25,000 invested in the restoration so far. Brand new tires. No rust on the under carriage- 2 small rust spots near the window. One ding on the side that must have happened this summer. Painted inner fender and fire walls. Leather interior. Tape deck and 10 disc cd changer. Kenwood sound system with subwoofer. Tinted windows. Needs a headliner. New V8 engine and auto transmission. Full dash off restoration. Holly 4 barrel carburetor. 4 door with a drop down rear door for epic tailgating! Interior is smoke free and is good and clean. This truck was purchased from my grandfather (who bought it from the guy who restored it) because it is one of the raddest trucks ever. My grandfather never drove it (he's in a wheelchair) and it sat in his yard for almost a year. I put new tires on it, tuned up the engine and I've been using it as a surf truck in Ocean City, NJ. Now that the season is over- I've had my fun and I'm looking to sell it. It runs great! Starts up great and purrs nicely.

Description: 1978 Chevy Suburban. Great condition for year. This is an unrestored but maintained truck. Remove the back seat and you have a pickup with a 10-foot enclosed bed. With the back seat in you can haul 8 people plus supplies. Runs, drives, shifts, brakes perfectly. The cigarette lighter does not work so you will not be able to charge your phone. Everything else besides the a/c works as it should. This is a nice truck with repairable rust on body.

Description: 1978 Chevy Suburban. This truck has been owned by my family for at least 36 years. To my knowledge, this vehicle has almost always been kept inside and has very little rust or corrosion anywhere on it. It is fun to drive and can haul an amazing amount of stuff and still comfortably seat 6 people. The truck has spent the last few years in my barn and has been driven regularly and put back. It needs a good wash. It is not inspected and other than taking it for a spin around the church where I live, cannot be taken for any crazy road test. If you buy it, I'll leave that up to you. I figured that this is the kind of vehicle that an enthusiast would be interested in so I assume that you can get a sense of what your are looking at from a quick spin and a look over in the yard. This may be the truck you have been looking for...some detailing and repair and it could be a jewel of a classic truck. There are not many of these left, let alone in the shape that it is in. The good: Title in hand, Comes with a box of odds and ends, and a small library of vintage repair manuals, diagrams and maintenance books, Original engine, small block 350 with quadrajet carb, HEI ignition, Runs, drives, starts up every time, ran monthly in storage, Original paint, Silverado package, classic plate, Dual exhaust, some aftermarket parts would make it sound amazing, TH350 transmission, automatic, 2WD simplicity and economy, Towing package, tranny cooler, oil cooler, power brakes, Class 2 hitch with everything needed to tow a larger trailer or camper, Fold down back seats for a supreme amount of storage space, Tinted rear windows, locking and original gas cap, original hubcaps. The bad: Needs to be inspected, Radiator hose has a pinprick in it and it leaks a little, May need tie rod ends but not certain, Rear occasionally makes a clunk sound when put in reverse or whining sound when driven at high speeds. I think the differential may need some work, The rear window motor has a wire that needs to be soldered/repaired between the trailgate and the bed, Until it is fixed, you must get out of the truck and use the key to move the window back up.
